SD card stopped working with Powershot ELPH 300 -- AAA!

I got my new Powershot ELPH, and I was pumped. I knew the 1GB SD card I had on hand wouldn't get me many pictures, but I put it in anyway just to try things out. The first day I used the camera, I was able to take about 15 pictures (including some in wide angle, which uses up more room). I've used the camera five days in a row (on a trip), and each day it has allowed me to take progressively fewer pictures.

Last night, after what has become my daily ritual of uploading the pictures and then deleting them all, I put it back in the camera and tried to take a picture -- "Insufficient space on card." WHAAAAAT? There are no pictures on the card!

I put it in to the card reader on my computer (which is a Mac, in case that makes a difference), and the computer automatically starts virus-scanning it... and while doing so, the filenames of what look like photos flash by on the scanner (JPG0104, etc). But these files do not exist on the card!

I open the card in Finder, and it shows no photo files on the card. But "Get Info" reveals that the card's memory is, in fact, FULL.

WHAT IS GOING ON? I'm going to buy a new, larger memory card, but is something in my computer or my camera possibly junking up my card with little files I can't see?

Have you been recording video as that can fill up a 1gb in a couple of minutes.

The best way to clear the card is to format it in the camera from the setup menu, but make sure you have downloaded any photo`s or video`s first or you will loose them.

My guess is that the problem was with your SD card. Try a new SDHC card (4gb or higher). It should work fine but, if it doesn't, you could have an issue with your camera.
