Fujifilm FinePix F200EXR Review Discussion
The 12 megapixel, 5x zoom Fujifilm FinePix F200EXR isn't your typical point-and-shoot digital camera. It offers a new Super CCD EXR sensor that boasts a higher dynamic range because of its unique design and capacity to change how it captures available light. Could Fuji's latest Super CCD be poised to change the world of small-sensor digicams?

Re: Fujifilm FinePix F200EXR Review
I get it that you have two combined exposures in the Dual Capture mode. Hopefully for extending the DR. However, is there also a provision to use only one of the two Dual Capture images? In effect, pick your ISO after the capture? Gives up the DR benefit, but results in a simultaneous bracket ...

Re: Fujifilm FinePix F200EXR Review
High ISO images are of little use when shot in high resolution. The F200EXR and F100fd are essentially the same camera when shot that way.
What is needed is a set of images shot in either EXR auto mode (to see what mode the camera chooses) or forced into SN mode, where the pixel binning algorithm is used on every shot. This should show the camera in its best light as ISO rises. At least, according to Fuji.
Also, a brief mention and test of the high DR mode would be useful, since it uses hardware to shoot half the pixels at one exposure and the other half at another in order to compress the dynamic range. I can;t tell from the review if it managed to shoot the camera in the hardware DR mode ...

Re: Fujifilm FinePix F200EXR Review
I don't understand how people keep raving about the Fuji Super CCD sensors. As far as I am concerned the new batch of Fuji cameras aren't as impressive as the Fuji F30 in its day. Just compare the Fuji F200EXR to some other Canon cameras like the SD1200, SD780, or SX200. They ALL look relatively OKAY from ISO 400 and down. It's just when they reach 800 where all these cameras have a serious noise issue. In my opinion the Fuji F200EXR doesn't give me much advantage in low light from what the image samples show. I don't understand the inconsistency between reviews when one review says a Canon camera is poor at ISO 400, and in this review it says ISO 400 is good. Maybe the marketing of the Super CCD sensors are leading to people unconciously rating them higher?
"Even at ISO 1600 and 3200, you get a usable picture that looks pretty good, with acceptable levels of noise." I mean come on those images are deteriorating in front of my eyes!
