Nikon issues D5000 service advisory
Nikon has issued a service advisory stating that they will offer free repairs to D5000 units that were sold with a faulty power control. The affected cameras contain a malfunctioning electrical component that has prevented users from being able to turn the cameras on.
On July 23rd, Nikon will release a list of serial numbers of the affected cameras. They'll ask that owners of the defective D5000 cameras send their cameras to a facility for the necessary repairs. All shipping and services will be paid for by Nikon.
Parting with your D5000 for several days will certainly be inconvenient, but Nikon has stated that they'd like to make the process as quick as possible. When possible, they'll be providing for two-day transit of units to and from the service facility.
The list of affected serial numbers will be published on July 23rd on a special page at Nikon's Service and Support website. Currently, the site offers more information on the power control problem.Related Articles:
