For compacts I get the impression that high zoom and HD video are the drivers for new models. No doubt what most shoppers crave.

My druthers would be a return of viewfinders, advanced exposure controls (ala Fuji F80EXR or the old Panny FX150), and fun features (Samsung front LCD). The flush lens brigade seems to be the Mac versus conventional extending lens designs? My impression is that the flush lens performance is starting to make up lost ground. Could these ultimately be the Next Big Thing for ultracompacts?
