Default Head to Head: Samsung NX10 vs. Sony NEX-5 Discussion

This edition of Head to Head pits two new cameras against each other: the Sony alpha NEX-5 and the Samsung NX10. They may be lightweights compared to DSLRs, but they pack serious picture-taking power into compact bodies.

Cool Re: Head to Head: Samsung NX10 vs. Sony NEX-5 Discussion

Egad, I've been quoted! As a Sony fan tis sad to see that the NEX-5 underexposed a tad on both Whittman samples. Agree that the NX10 result was more pleasing on that score (mumble, mumble).

Err, no mention of AF performance in low light or following moving targets? It would also be nice to see head-to-head shots for various scenes, indoors and outdoors. Or is there a gallery coming?

The problem with your ISO shot is that Nex-5 is under-exposed by more than one stop. Nex-5 has at least one to two stop advangate when exposed properly, as shown in IR samples.

Video wasn't mentioned where NX10 flatters too.

The studio shot with studio lighting doesn't say everything about low-light capability. I think what you need to do is add a couple of photos from both cameras (add GF1 or G2 and EPL1 if you wish) taken indoors in lowlight, like a church or something at ISO 800 and ISO 1600. I think it will be obvious then that NX10 is behind other cameras in low-light, and Nex-5 is ahead of all other ILC cameras.
