Sony NEX-VG10 First Look Review Discussion

The DigitalCameraReview team is in Jackson, Wyoming this week testing out the first interchangeable lens camcorder targeted at the consumer audience, the Sony NEX-VG10.

Why Wyoming? Because with its tall peaks, cowboy culture and scenic landscape, it's the perfect place to shoot a variety of challenging and picturesque situations and locations, and get a true feel for Sony's prosumer device.

The sample still pictures will not blow up to an enlargement.

From what I see of the sample stills, this camera seems to produce a "Technicolorist" type picture reminiscent of film shot on Panavision cameras.They look great to me.

The microphone design and performance is very interesting too. It would be nice to run the sound quality over a home theater receiver on a matrix codec and see what you get from this. A friend of mine had a dvd sony camera that came with 5.1 surround. That microphone recorded stunning 5.1 surround with center back surround imaging or in other words a 360 degree sound field.
