Canon is the most modular of all the major camera manufacturers and their product development folks have a broad catalog of proven components to draw from when creating new models.

Its image quality in normal lighting is really good, aside from a few color discrepancies. It's as good as, if not better than, cameras that cost twice as much.

I agree wholeheartedly with you Andy. From the sample images taken in this report there is definite high quality in this unit and makes it a "sleeper" camera. None of those photos look boring and the color quality and saturation is nothing short of astounding at this price as well as shooting pictures equal to or better than many cameras costing twice as much. I was also impressed by the video too. It may be 640X480, but it looked colorful and sharp and better than many other cameras that shoot that format.
