    Default Olympus E-5 Review Discussion

The Olympus E-5 is the newest top-of-the-line DSLR camera that uses a Four Thirds sensor developed by Olympus. This DSLR has all the impressive features of its predecessor, including a durable magnesium alloy body with weather sealed "splashproof" construction. What makes the E-5 unique is the addition of a higher resolution image sensor, new image processing, a larger LCD and the ability to capture HD video. Is the E-5 more than just a modest update to the E-3? Keep reading to find out.

Unhappy Re: Olympus E-5 Review Discussion

Nice. But any hint from Olympus that we will ever see any cameras like the E-30 and E-620 again?

I've got 1 question, if you can answer me before giving it back :
on replay, is it possible to zoom 1:1 pixel ?
on E-3, we are zooming on a vga thumbnail, so it is impossible to check focus... so is it really zooming on this E-5 ?
it's the question for me, to confirm staying @oly or ... leaving

Hi, there why is it the review said that the E5 contrast adjustment can only be access from menu ? All i know that it can be access by pressing ok then point the arrow until you hit the contrast at the LCD, you said that the high ISO perormance is worse than other competitor, so the question is : why is that some of other forum test stated that the E5 ISO performance surpass most of other competitor like D3S or even EOS 1D Mk IV bellow ISO 800..

FYI : the E5 has their anti aliasing filter made thinner thus make the image result is more detail..

    Default E5?

Having been a Oly user from the beginning and having enjoyed the legendary OM-ancient analog line, I feel sad about their Research/Development efforts to date. Now I use Canon full frame. Oly lenses are still great, but what else. Their escape to MFT? Hopeless compared to the power of Panasonic.

They at Olympus have no vision anymore. And in a Pro camera, as they call the E5, I do not want art filters! Sad to say, Olympus is no Pro place anymore. Who, by the way runs this "me too" Company? Where is their obligation to serious photography still being visible?

    Cool Re: E5?

'Tis a cruel market. Now the clamor is for Micro4/3. When the Oly E-series 4/3 DSLRs provided essentially the same package, with better manual control! Maybe the time has come for Oly to become a fashion label? Hire their stylists and brand name out to the other camera makers? Instead of an Eddie Bauer signature Ford Explorer, we could get an Olympus signature Samsung?

Default Olympus E-5 Past to the Future

Really, Kelly, this is a sad story, not cruel. All those plastics cameras built around the similar kind of sensors. This could open some marketing as Eddie Bauer. But Olympus (meaning the Olymp from old Greece) has nothing to build on, at least compared to the Olymp. And Canon, Nikon, they all came to their limit now (those same common sensors and integrated circuits, just boring chip drill holes). Boring pictures filling the Internet.

I believe it takes about another two years, and new views and technologies will ermerge we still do not know about. I will sell a lot of present "hi-tech" to make 6x9 photos on film until I can see new horizons. Thomas
