Default Samsung TL500 First Look Discussion

The Samsung TL500 is looking for a little respect. With manual exposure controls, a bright f/1.8 lens and Schneider-Kreuznach optics, it's positioned toe-to-toe with the likes of the G12 and the LX5. Read on for our first impressions of the scrappy TL500.

I assume there are in-camera image controls for contrast, etc? As on a DSLR? It would be nice to see how much range those provide.

The TL500 has been available in Europe for awhile. Everything I've read about it has been very positive, especially with regard to its image quality. The only negative (to some) is that it lacks an HD video mode.

I'm looking forward to the full review.

I really liked the sample pictures. I read that it does not do high def video though which is too bad because this unit has a darn good Schneider Lens and probably a pick-up to boot to get sample pictures like these. I have two Kodaks(zd710 and z812) with Schneiders and particulaly on the Z812 I cannot find any real fault with the photos that I got nor the price I paid for them. The ZD710 takes very nice std video with terrific sound quality., I cannot say the same for the 810's video mode though.
