So Howard, which is better for photo quality, the Canon A550 or this new Nikon L12?

    Hi Gautam,

Based on my experiences with both cameras, the Canon A550 has a substantial edge in the image quality department. In my opinion the A550 has much better optics.

Thanks, Howard. I suspected that. It would be nice to see some videos of the movie mode...perhaps in the future, I mean. It's really easy to upload the material to youtube and then post it in the review. I would be glad to help you out if needed.

I've considered using Youtube before, but it seems like they compress the movies so much that it's really hard to tell if it's actually good quality. It's also quite possible that it's been a while since I've checked it out.

There is also Brightcove which is MUCH better quality. I have suggested that to reviewers at NBR and they have had great success with it in the past.

You are right about Youtube's abysmal quality.

The coolpix L12 delivers enough perfomance especcially for the price i paid € 44.95 . Ok it is slow with flash but be honoust the start up time is low for a compact, it is faster than a Coolpix e 7600 , has VR , a much larger screen and it performs it's task good enough.

the scene modes are way better than the coolpix e 76oo , it is a great camera for outdoors, indoors there are limitations offcourse because you can't set the iso or shutterpeed your self but folks who want to, will more look for a multizoom compact or a cheap dslr

i have several compact and dslr photo camera's and i can recommend it to any one looking for a compact digial camera
