Nikon Coolpix S50 Review Discussion
This new member of Nikon’s Coolpix “Style” series features a 7.2 megapixel sensor, 3 inch LCD, and 3x Nikon optical zoom lens. Nikon has also packaged in 15 scene options, optical Vibration Reduction, In-Camera Red-Eye Fix, Face-Priority auto focus (AF) and their excellent “D-Lighting” image correction function in addition to the standard “auto” mode. The Nikon Coolpix S50 packs all this into a matte-black metal body about the size of a deck of playing cards and set off with chrome highlights.

About the charger
Hi

I have found your review very helpful, i just want to know how long does it take for the charger to fully charge the battery?
Also, between this camera and the Coolpix L5, do you know which one has a better performance?
It would be great to know your opinion on that, thank you.

Re: Nikon Coolpix S50 Review
The battery takes about 2 hours to charge.
By better performance, what do you mean? Faster operation? Better image quality?
The S50 is meant to be a slim/stylish camera and has some features that make it quite a bit more expensive (styling, 3 inch screen, optical image stabilization).
The L5 is mean to be more affordable, but it's still compact and uses AA batteries.Best Regards,
Ben

Thank u =)
By better performance I meant both, operation and image quality, but I have decided to get the L5, I just can't wait 2 hours for the battery to charge! WOW!
thanks again =)

Re: Nikon Coolpix S50 Review
It seems that Nikon has put some very new features or just renew the old ones!

Re: Nikon Coolpix S50 Review
I have owned the Nikon S50 now for several weeks. On a recent holiday to Scotland I took over a hundred pictures & the battery was still good. It's a camera with quite a large 'Mode' & 'Menu' system but I found it very intuitive & relatively easy to use. I didn't need to keep refering to the instruction manual, which was just as well because it's on CD!
I shot pictures in all kinds of lighting conditions & the camera performed flawlessly on the 'auto' setting, the only time I selected a different setting was for 'landscape' pictures.
Judge for yourself from the attached pictures. They were shot at the 'normal' 7 mega pixel setting. I have reduced the size to 640 x 480 but the pictures have not been retouched, etc, in any way.

Re: Nikon Coolpix S50 Review
Thank Ben, I appreciate the comment. The rest of the pics I took were just regular holiday snaps, you know, family etc. When I'm 'out and about' again I'll surely post any worthwhile shots in the gallery.
This is a very nice site, thanks for the membership & use of it.
Regards, Mike.
