Default Canon PowerShot A3300 IS Review Discussion

At first glance Canon's new PowerShot A3300 IS doesn't look like the culmination of a century and a half of photographic progress, but it is. During the 19th century photographers captured images on large and very delicate glass plates loaded (one at a time) into very slow tripod mounted view cameras and viewed upside down under a dark hood before being manually exposed. When William Henry Jackson photographed Yellowstone National Park in the early 1870's he needed an enclosed wagon drawn by two mules to carry his photographic gear and portable darkroom.

Another fine Canon camera. I've reviewed five Canon point and shoots (and own two older ones) and every single one is first rate.

I haven't kept track of the numbers, but I've reviewed five or six Canon P&S digicams each year since 2005, for DCR. I agree, Canon consistently and dependably gives consumers what they want from the $90.00 A495 to the $500.00 G12

Style-wise, Canon has not always been on the mark. For instance, although it was a very good camera, I didn't care at all for the appearance of the SD4500 IS.

And I still can't get used to the new HD touch-screen style that covers the entire back of the camera with the LCD. Leaving no thumb grip zone at all.
