Casio Protoype Digital Camera Shoots at 60 Frames per Second
At IFA 2007 in Berlin, Casio is displaying a prototype digital camera that is capable of taking still images at 60fps and movies at 300fps. The new camera uses a 6 megapixel CMOS sensor and a high speed LSI image processing chip to crunch all of that data. Besides the actual prototype, there is no word on release date, pricing, or even final specifications.

(view large image)The prototype also includes a 12x optical zoom and a sensor-shifting image stabilization mechanism. A 2.8 inch widescreen LCD with 230K pixels is onboard to let you preview and review your images.
Other specs:
- Sensor: 1/1.8" CMOS
- Electronic viewfinder has approx 200K pixels
- Lens: 12 lenses in 9 groups, F2.7 to 4.6, equivalent to approx 35 to 420 mm on a 35 mm film camera
- Movie capture: VGA resolution (640x480) at 300fps
- Dimensions: 27.5mm (W) x 79.5mm (H) x 130.0mm (D)
Other coverage:
- Engadget has a nice "hands-on" photo gallery
- A nice-looking Casio mini-site
