Re: DCR Workshop: Post-Processing to Get What You Want Discussion
Interesting article. But it raises a question in my mind. At what point does post processing detract from the realism of the image?

Re: DCR Workshop: Post-Processing to Get What You Want Discussion
The short answer would be "almost immediately". With the exception of white balance corrections, that game usually is in the name of realism. "Faithful" (Canon speake, "Natural" in some other tongues) RAW images are dead realism (except for possible WB error). And also deadly dull. If professional photography had to give up all PP, sales would plummet.

Re: DCR Workshop: Post-Processing to Get What You Want Discussion
Hi Joel,
This is an informative and well written tutorial. I especially like the way you show how the image progresses at each stage of post processing. I'm a lifelong straight shooter so I doubt I'll ever try any of this stuff, but I have really enjoyed reading our "On Assignment" features and recent DCR tutorials. I feel that adding tutorials and "On Assignment" pieces to the mix of camera reviews and industry news presented by our site will make us a more useful resource for consumers and that enhances DCR's credibility.
Nice job, and I loved the picture.
Howard
