Olympus E-PL3 Review: Almost a Great Camera Discussion
For those of our readers who don't already know, the joint development of the Micro Four Thirds system by Olympus and Panasonic in 2009 allowed for the creation of a whole new category of mirrorless interchangeable lens cameras that have since flooded the enthusiast photography market.

I agree with Jerry Jackson that the absence of a place to grip the camera makes no sense. It might work of you use a lightweight pancake lens only, but if you use a zoom lens the camera's balance will be off. Why didn't Olympus stick with the body of the e-PL2? Strange.

You say:
Shutter lag came in at 0.01 seconds (Shutter Lag (press-to-capture, pre-focused) - making the E-PL3 just as fast as the speedy Olympus E-P3. But this is not thrue. I bought a PL3 on this basis. I have created a device that accurately measures the shutter-lag. I have tested all possible modes, including manual. The best time is 68 msec.
See:

I think this time should be 0.1 instead of 0.01s. Unfortunately, a very short shutter lag was required.

Did you prefocus (press the shutter half-way down) before taking the shot?

Re: Olympus E-PL3 Review: Almost a Great Camera Discussion
Yes, you can see this on the LCD display where I use 250 ms Half-press signal (AF time).
The test unit use a remote wire cable from the Olympus RM-UC1 to drive the half and full press signals.
But even if I push the half-press (long before) on the camera the results are the same. Wired remote connection signals are a copy of the buttom signals. 7 leds on mains 1/160s openings time (between 6 and 7 ms as the shift led time is 1 ms as indicated on the display). Ofcourse the picture is taken with the PL3 camera.
I would be very happy if I made a mistake, but I have done a lot of tests, take over the 500 pictures in all possible settings without any results. I have two quick cameras need for 3D high-speed shots via beamsplitter system. With this camera I hoped to have results.

What is your testing method to get this shutter lag result ?
Are you using the wired-remote input ?
