Will there be a market for the G1X? Its price, size and clunky appearance make me have my doubts.

Well I'm interested. Problem is, it's a tad bigger - taller, which is a critical contributor to bulk for me - than even the Fuji X100 which I rejected as a 'carryaround' in favour of the Leica X1. Still, the lens would be useful - I can see it supplanting my current Fuji X10 (though it is already a bit of a fifth wheel in my lineup) easily enough, but the X1? Almost certainly not (especially given the looks).

But compared to e.g. a Micro 4/3rds, if you add a lens with similar reach I see the M43 camera as being a lot bigger. Since 'educated' buyers have traditionally sought out the G, and since it's not *that* much bigger than previous G's I can see there being a fairly ready - if not huge - market. I do think people who might e.g. have been drawn to the X10 for the larger-than-usual sensor will shift their aim in droves. But is that a giant market? Probably not.

Agree. The specs are appealing, but Canon's stylists were off their game on this one.

Well it's not really a surprise, is it. It looks like every G has done.

The 1.5-inch sensor is interesting. Anybody figured out what that crop factor is? Anyways, suppose this sensor becomes the backbone for a new mirrorless ILC line by Canon . . . hummmm

About the same size as the Sigma sensors isn't it? So 1.7ish?

Divide the nominal WA eqv of 28mm by the actual 15.1 and the result is 1.85X. Of course this depends on the 28mm figure being precise (which I would not bet on).
