Default Shopping Smart: How to Buy a Used Camera Discussion

There are plenty of good reasons to consider buying a used camera, whether it's for yourself or someone else. Secondhand gear is cheaper, adding more room to your budget for things like accessories and lenses. With a little work, shopping used can pay off big.

Another online source is Calumet. Unfortunately their site navigation makes that section hard to find -

Calumet owns Penn Camera, which had several stores in the Washington DC area, including close to where I live. I helped my friend buy a DSLR from them. It was a nice chain, with very knowledgeable sales staff. They also bought and sold used gear. Unfortunately my local store did not survive the transition.

The only thing I've bought so far from Calumet was a lens filter. That went Ok, and the packing was better than most outfits. No Calumet store here in Arizona, hope to visit their San Diego area store later this year.
