Default Hands On: Canon's Full Frame 6D & PowerShot G15 Discussion

Canon is a company which has revealed most novelties at this year's Photokina and even today, at the closure of the first day of the fair, it can be concluded that it has the most impressive exhibition of the show.  Among previously announced models, like Canon's first mirrorless called EOS M, the most interesting new models by this imaging giant are the EOS 6D, a 'beginner's full frame' DSLR and the PowerShot G15, a jumbo compact from the legendary series (that replaces the PowerShot G12).

This 6D has fewer buttons than my old 50D! But the "SCN" on the mode knob means there are scenes tucked away in the menus? Egad, a full frame with scenes . . .

So which full frame is better, the 6D or the Nikon D600? I expect we'll see a head-to-head comparison in the near future.

On other forums Nikon fans are having a howl about the 6D's paltry 11 AF points, only 1 cross type. My view is that it could come down to price. If Canon is aggressive about bundling lenses with the 6D, that could close the gap on the Nikon.

The far right hand photo in the Article shows a G1 X with the LCD swiveled out from the camera body. This might confuse some folks that will think the G15 LCD also will swivel, while it is now a fixed LCD. Going back to a fixed LCD on the G15 is not well received by most G11/G12 users.
