Default Latest Fujifilm F camera, F100fd, rolled out

Not to be outdone by Fuji's barrage of ultra-zoom announcements, the 12 megapixel Fujifilm FinePix F100fd is the latest iteration in the company's F series of advanced compact digicams.

    Fujifilm FinePix F100fd

Built around an eigth-generation Fuji Super CCD sensor, the F100fd is expected to deliver the kind of impressive low light/high ISO performance that users have come to expect from these cameras. Other physical specs include a 2.7-inch, 230,000-pixel wide-angle view LCD, as well as a Fujinon 5x optical zoom.

Several advanced technologies are included on the F100fd platform: Wide Dynamic Range, Dual Image Stabilization, and Fuji's Face Detection 3.0, which promises faster tracking, wider recognition angles, and appropriate automatic exposure, focus, and white balance adjustments.

Although it falls below 3 megapixels of resolution to do so, the F100fd also advertises ISO sensitivity up to a whopping ISO 12800. Full-res shots can be taken at up to ISO 1600.

The $379 FinePix F100fd should start appearing in stores in March.

The combination of mechanical and digital IS will hopefully yield some great low-light shooting!

I'm pretty pumped about this one as well. We'll see Fuji was able to work out some of the processing and grain issues from the F50fd.

Any chance this might be out before March? Release date is in April. Just not sure how much they stick to these release dates.

I've had some previous help in trying to select a new camera and now I'm adding to the mix the ability for the camera to go underwater.
I thought this would be a decent choice and it does have underwater housing.

Anyway I'll post in "which camera to buy" with my new list of possibilities. The only problem is I think like the F100fd my choices won't be released in time.
