Samsung GX-1L, Digimax L60, and Digimax L85 Digital Cameras Announced
Samsung has announced three new cameras ahead of PMA. The Samsung GX-1L is the second camera released from collaboration with Pentax. The Digimax L60 offers 6 megapixels, 3x optical zoom, and a 2.4 inch screen in a compact form factor. The Digimax L85 features an 8 megapixel sensor, 5x optical zoom, 2.5 inch LCD, and the world's first high definition interface (HDMI) in a still camera.
The second camera to come out of the collaboration with Pentax, the GX-1L is a 6 megapixel entry-level digital SLR. With several automatic and scene modes, along with the price point, the GX-1L is definitely meant for those looking for their first digital SLR. An Auto Picture mode chooses the best scene mode (Standard, Landscape, Macro or Sports) depending on the subject. An Auto Sensitivity mode automatically adjusts the sensitivity (ISO) of the camera to reduce camera shake.
The camera also includes a 2.5 inch LCD for reviewing your pictures (that you can capture at 2.8 frames per second). The camera is powered by 4 AA-sized batteries (lithium-ion, NiMH or CR-V3).
Samsung Digimax L60
It's hard to keep up the enthusiasm level when spec sheet after spec sheet hits my Inbox - they all kind of blur together. The Digimax L60 offers 6 megapixels, a 3x optical zoom, and a 2.4 inch screen. One thing that may let this camera stand apart is its looks. It has a very clean look and it has nice sleek dimensions. Plenty of scene modes let you experiment with the results under various conditions. The Digimax L60 will be ready in April at an MSRP of $299.
Samsung Digimax L85
The Digimax L85 is the first digital still camera to offer high-definition output. With this HDMI, you can view pictures on your high-def tv at much higher resolutions than you could before. The camera can take pictures up to 8 megapixels, has a 5x optical zoom and a 2.5 inch LCD. With some nice retro styling, it will be an eye-catcher (especially when you plug in to that 50+ inch high-def TV that you know you want). The L85 will be available in April for $499.
