Nikon D60 Review Discussion
Digital SLRs have consistently and dependably gotten better and prices have dropped precipitously since the introduction of the first prohibitively expensive versions 20 years ago. While it took 35mm SLRs almost 60 years to reach their developmental zenith, the new Nikon D60, a slightly upgraded entry-level model, is a prime example of just how much digital SLRs have improved in less than two decades. With a 10.2 megapixel sensor and a lot of carryover from the well-regarded D40x, the D60 is clearly an incremental upgrade rather than a major shift in direction for Nikon's amateur line. Still, some minor polish and feature-expanding upgrades along with an excellent new kit lens keep the Nikon in the hunt for consumer dollars in this competitive space.

Re: Nikon D60 Review
Nice review, but not the camera for me.
I'll keep looking at the XSi and K200D.Pentax K200D w/ Pentax DA 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 AL II

Re: Nikon D60 Review
No doubt that it's a good camera, but it's far too entry level and missing several features which I really would like.

Re: Nikon D60 Review
That's what it was designed for though! I have to admit, for the camera Nikon was shooting for, they did a darn good job.

Re: Nikon D60 Review
Oh I know! It's a great entry level cam for soccer moms and people who generally want better pictures than P&S in a small, easy to use package.

Re: Nikon D60 Review
I like the soccer moms addition there. My mom is a kindergarten teacher and uses a Nikon D40. She hated the idea at first, but after taking a few pictures with it and seeing how much better they looked and how much easier they were to take she was in love.
