Default Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX500 Demo Video

We're still working through the test shooting for our Pansonic Lumix DMC-FX500 review with the aim of publishing a full review before the end of next week. So far, the latest Lumix has continued to be an interesting camera with some novel features appropriate to its flagship status.

To hold the eager FX500 fans out there over until our final conclusions are in, however, I've wrapped up my video demo of the FX500's somewhat unconventional, much talked-about touch screen. If you're interested to find out what this sleek little gadget's interface can do (and what it can't), have a look:

Obviously, I'll have much more to say about this camera's performance, its usability, and its image quality in the full review. In the meantime, head on over to my Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX500 First Thoughts piece if you haven't already for some sample shots and my initial thoughts on this interesting ultracompact.

Thanks. Yes it does. It will be interesting to see if image quality is completely on par with that from the FX35.

could you also check speed of zoom? I read a user review of an online store and the reviewer complained that a major annoyance of the camera was that it zoomed in & out way slower than similar type cameras. Thanks.

I just picked up it up to take a look and it seems to zoom at about the same speed as other similar Panasonic cameras. I'll time it to get some hard numbers, just to be sure.

David any chance you could include a video sound test at high volume to simulate a disco oir similar environment?

Many people like myself, and many young people who buy these cameras, buy them for going out into pubs, clubs, discos and wedding etc as they slip easily into a pocket - basically environments where your likely to encounter sound levels of maybe 120db.

No-one really tests this despite the common usage of cameras like these in these environments and I know from past experience / watching videos on Youtube from club events that the ability to attenuate high volumes without allowing distortion varies massively from brand to brand and camera to camera.

Panasonic actually had to have the review unit back yesterday, so I don't have it in hand to check out. Thanks for the insight on the test, though; I'll add this to our standard video check for compact and ultracompact cameras especially going forward.
