Default Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T30 Ultra Compact Digital Camera Announced

Continuing the slim sexiness of the T line, Sony has announced the ultra-compact Cyber-shot DSC-T30.  The T30 is a pretty straightforward upgrade from the T9 with just a handful of changes.  The T30 looks almost identical to the T9, but will be a available in silver and a sleek black look as well.  Look for the T30 at SonyStyle.com in May for around $500.  It's not cheap, but this camera is about the looks at any budget.

The T30 bumps up the resolution to 7.2 megapixels (the T9 has 6) and manages to add a 3 inch (230K pixel) LCD into the very compact body.  The T30 has almost exactly the same dimensions as the T9.  The T30 is 3-3/4 x 2-1/4 x 15/16" while the T9 is 3-9/16 x 2-3/16 x 13/16".  Also, the T30 adds two more levels of ISO sensitivity, so you can shoot with ISO 800 and ISO 1000 when you need the extra sensitivity.

The T30 features the same sliding lens cover mechanism that you may know from the T9.  Many other features are the same as the T9.  The T30 still has the Sony Super SteadyShot image stabilization system, 3x optical zoom and a slide show function.

As far as battery life, Sony claims that the T30 will get 420 shots (CIPA standards) vs. the 240 shots of the T9.  The T30 does have 58MB of internal memory and accepts Memory Stick Duo (and Pro Duo) media.

That's silly-expensive, but their designs for the ultra compacts are pretty hot.
