Default Epson announces $99 photo all-in-one

In a press release yesterday, Epson unveiled the budget-minded flagship model in a new line of all-in-one printers.

    Epson Stylus NX400

The Epson Stylus NX400 will be the top model in the new series aimed at general consumers looking to do a combination of printing, scanning, copying, and other basic imaging tasks.

Speed is one of the new NX's buzzwords, with the printer boasting 34 ppm document printing speed as well as the ability to produce borderless photo-quality 4x6 prints in as little 26 seconds. Both black-and-white and color copies can be managed at a claimed rate of around 30 cpm.

Borderless photo prints are possible up to 8.5x11, and the NX400 uses Epson's latest DURABrite Ultra pigment-based inks for vibrant color reproduction and smudge/wear resistance. Maximum print resolution is 5740x1440 dpi; the NX400 also scans at up to 1200 dpi.

With a 2.5-inch preview screen and multi-function card reader, the NX400 can be used as a stand-alone print/copy/scan device. Connection to either a Macintosh or PC is via USB 2.0.

For detailed specs on the new printer, which is hitting retail outlets for a mere $99, head over to Epson.com.
