LaCie launches tiny 1TB drive
LaCie has announced the launch of its latest Little Big Drive portable storage solution, the 1TB Little Big Drive Quadra.
Touted as "the industry’s largest capacity, most powerful mobile storage solution to fit comfortably into the palm of your hand" by the manufacturer, the latest joins 400GB and 500GB already on the market. Cross-platform compatability as well as plug-and-play functionality with Apple's Time Machine backup system make the drive a versatile solution for dual-platform users.
The passively cooled Quadra promises quiet operation and draws all the power it needs directly from its FireWire interface. The drive can also be connected, though not powered, via USB 2.0.
Inside it's aluminum heat sink, two 2.5-inch, 500GB hard disk drives in a RAID 0 configuration allow impressive data transfer speeds and provide massive storage capacity that's ideal for the mobile photographer/videographer.
The Little Big Drive Quadra is slated for availability in early July. Be prepared to shell out the $659.99 MSRP for the privilege.
