Kodak ESP 5 Printer Review Discussion
When Kodak unveiled its latest ESP 5 all-in-one photo printer/scanner, we were impressed with the specs sheet: a sub-$200 printer with a sleek new look, an easy-to-use interface, and outrageously low operation costs. All of this makes the new Kodak sound like the perfect combination of features for casual shooters looking to do a little more with their photos than a basic desktop inkjet or drug-store photo kiosk allows.

Re: Kodak ESP 5 Printer Review
I've had this printer since Feb. 2009. It's not impressive. Image quality was good in the beginning but quickly got worse. Have called the company twice due to print copies missing color, or lines through images. They said it was the 'printhead'. They've sent me two new printheads in six months to fix the problem. Still having copy quality issues.
And, just a side note - don't fall for all the hype about how affordable the ink cartridges are - you have to replace them OFTEN!
Save yourself the aggravation - don't purchase this printer.

Re: Kodak ESP 5 Printer Review Discussion
This is a heap of junk! If it's not a faulty printhead, it's a paper jam.
I bought my first ESP3 in June '09. I'm now on my 5th (or 6th) replacement, upgraded to ESP5 at some point as 'a goodwill gesture'.
Be aware, the replacements are refurbs, which should indicate how many are returned as faulty!
However, the supervisor arranged for a brand new replacement earlier this month, assuring me it would not give me problems as the others did - why not, same model?!
Sure enough, one week later, paper jam! Cleared it, & again... & again... today was the 4th jam & my patience ran out after nearly losing fingers trying to catch the paper scrap which wouldn't loosen!
As many other ppl thought, this seemed an economical option given the cheap ink - which has now shot up in price!
Definitely not economical. I'm running a business & have lost countless hrs dealing with associated problems caused by non functioning printer!
Now waiting for supervisor to call me back after being cut off in 3 calls! The first after holding for 10 mins!
DON"T BUY THIS PRINTER!

Re: Kodak ESP 5 Printer Review Discussion
I bought the Kodak ESP-5 on the advice of my local retailer who convinced me of the Kodak claims regarding performance and low running costs...... it sounded too good to be true but I still bought it. The reality is that it was too good to be true, this is the worst printer I have ever bought and after 4 months of it eating the so called cheaper cartridges at an alarming rate and an intolerrable slow print speed I have given up on it and bought an HP photosmart. To those of you thinking of buying one of these then my advice is read the reviews and the comments of existing users, and not the claims made by Kodak or your local retailer who employ a load of kids that simply tell you what you could read on the box. This is a frustrating piece of kit that just simply does not deliver..... I will never touch another Kodak printer again.
