Circuit City continues to have great deals on SLRs and OfficeMax offers an oldie but goodie for a sweet price.
OfficeMax has the Nikon D40 with an 18-55mm Zoom-Nikkor Lens for $449.99 which was the lowest price I found among Big Box stores and online retailers. If you can't find it in the store, you can order it online at OfficeMax.com and get free shipping.
OUR TAKE: "The Nikon D40 is the "gateway drug" into the world of digital SLRs. The combination of nice price, high quality and ease of use is certain to lead to SLR addiction." (DCR Review, 1/28/07)
YOUR TAKE: "...its tiny size and feather light weight along with its tiny price, make it a real joy to buy and use." (submitted by Glacialhills)
Circuit City still has the Canon EOS 40D body with 28-135mm wide-range lens for $1299.99. Also receive a free Epson photo printer, DSLR for Dummies, leather photo album, and Firedog remote training with purchase.
Best Buy has the same deal minus the free stuff but it is currently sold out online so it might be hard to find in the stores.
YOUR TAKE: "Most exciting prosumer DSLR." (submitted by sanjeevmohan)
Take a break from the hot July weather at your local brick-and-mortar and you can save on a great new camera and your air conditioning bill.
Circuit City has the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H10 for $269.99 after $30 in instant savings. It was the best price I found among all the circulars although I found it for slightly cheaper online ($259.95 at Abe's). Features include: 8.1 megapixels, 10x optical zoom, 3.0" LCD display, Optical image stabilizer, face detection, and 9-point auto focus.
OUR TAKE: "The images produced by the Sony Cyber-shot H10 can be stunning. This is largely a testament to the fine lens used." (DCR Review, 7/6/08)
Best Buy has the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5 for $319.99 in their weekly ad BUT it's not the best price I found. Circuit City actually has it for $289.99 even though it's not in their circular this week. Go figure. Features include: 9.1 megapixels, 10x optical zoom, 3.0" LCD screen, optical image stabilizer, face detection, and movies in HD.
OUR TAKE: "...the TZ5 adds a (usually) great new screen...while retaining basically everything that made the TZ3 so good - good speed, good optics, and a compact, stylish package." (DCR Review, 5/5/08)
YOUR TAKE: "...the camera is so smart, it makes anyone look like a pro. The LCD is also phenomenal." (submitted by Evan)
Best Buy has the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-S750 for $139.99, the cheapest price I found anywhere. Features include: 7.2-megapixel high-resolution images, 3x optical zoom, 2.5" color LCD monitor, high sensitivity mode (ISO 1250), face detection, 22MB internal memory, and Memory Stick Duo/Memory Stick PRO Duo memory slot.
Office Depot has the Olympus FE-340 for $164.99 after $15 instant savings. Features include: 8.0-megapixels, 5x optical zoom, 2.7" LCD with backlight boost button, and TruePic III image processor.
OUR TAKE: "If you are looking for a well built, slim, entry-level camera that's easy to use, the FE-340 makes a good choice." (DCR Review, 4/7/08)
YOUR TAKE: "This is by far the best point and shoot I have used." (submitted by hil)
Best Buy has the Kodak EasyShare M1033 for $169.99. This was the second lowest price I found (Beach Camera has it for $168.75) and you can get $50 off a printer with your purchase. Features include: 10.1-megapixel high-resolution images 3x optical zoom, Kodak Retinar aspheric zoom lens, 3" wide-angle indoor/outdoor color LCD monitor, and HD picture and HD video capture.
