Lenovo laptop offers photographer-focused features
Lenovo has announced a new ThinkPad workstation, the W700, with several key features that should appeal to photographers on the go.
The 17-inch widescreen W700 is most notable for including a built-in pen tablet surface on the palmrest area, allowing for more intuitive graphics and photo work.
The W700's 17-inch display features WUXGA (1920x1200) resolution as well as an on-board color calibration tool that eliminates the need for third-party external calibrators (and claims to be more accurate than an external solution as well). With the ability to reproduce 72 percent of the Adobe RGB color gamut – compared to around 45 percent for a typical display – the W700's display provides impressive color fidelity for a mobile workstation.
Intel Core 2 Duo processors can be combined with up to 8 GB of high-speed DDR3 memory and RAID-configured dual hard-drive options for graphics-ready speed and storage capacity. An optional Blu-ray burner/player further expands the W700's high-capacity output options.
According to Lenovo, the ThinkPad W700 should be available next month, with a base-configuration price just under $3000.
