Sony Alpha DSLR-A100 Digital SLR Officially Announced
The highly anticipated and often leaked details of the Sony Alpha DSLR-A100 digital SLR have finally been made public. After acquiring assets from Konica Minolta last year, the photography world has been waiting to see what Sony would introduce. The 10.2 megapixel A100 and 19 lenses will surely be under the microscope in the months to come.
The A100 includes some great features and is going to be available as a body only purchase for about $900. A kit that includes the SAL-1870 (18-70mm) lenses is expected to be available for around $1000. Both packages will start shipping in July and Sony is taking pre-orders for the Sony Alpha DSLR-A100 at their sonystyle.com website.

- Eye-Start Autofocus system - a sensor near the viewfinder triggers the camera to start focusing as soon as you place your eye close to the viewfinder
- 2.5 inch Clear Photo LCD Plus LCD with 230K pixels of resolution
- Continuous shooting mode frame rate of 3 frames per second
- Lithium-ion battery good for up to 600 shots per charge
- Accepts both Compact Flash and Memory Stick Pro/Memory Stick Pro Duo media
