Canon PowerShot SX10 IS Review Discussion
For some time, Canon seemed to be on the outside looking in with regard to the digital ultrazoom camera class. Sure, there was the tried and true S5 IS (which remains in the Canon lineup at present), but it was equipped with a relatively modest 12x zoom while competitors had lenses in the 15x range, with 18 and 20x models becoming the gold standard. As good as the S5 IS is, topping out with a 12x zoom in this market niche was like bringing a knife to a gunfight.

Re: Canon PowerShot SX10 IS Review
So far everything about this camera looks pretty good, but I'm still waiting to find out if Lensmate will offer an adapter tube to provide protection and allow filters to be used. It'll make the camera as big as possible, all of the time. I'm also hoping the firmware gets cracked to allow extra options, especially RAW files.
I was hoping that Canon would use a higher resolution evf and lcd, but I think they may not have expected other manufacturers to start using them already. That's not a deal breaker for me, but I'd still love if Canon made a mid-cycle update to install an evf with at least 3x the pixels.
I'm just glad to see that Canon has stuff to the same formula that made this line successful. Yeah, the lens could be faster, but I don't think that'll be a deal breaker for most people shopping for this type of camera....it wouldn't be for me.Eugene Leafty

Re: Canon PowerShot SX10 IS Review
The stats say: "Battery - Rechargeable lithium-ion" NOT SO! It uses AA Batteries.

Re: Canon PowerShot SX10 IS Review
The specs in the review also say the file formats are jpeg and avi when actually the movie format is mov. Also under "Additional Features" it says raw shooting. This camera does not have raw format capability. Are these specs for a different camera perhaps?

Re: Canon PowerShot SX10 IS Review
One thing I found out the hard way: To play back movies from this camera on a computer requires a computer speed of at least 1.66 GHz. Otherwise, the playback is jerky.

Re: Canon PowerShot SX10 IS Review
can anyone post the night and indoor shots from this camera? night and indoor shots are important to me as i often take dark indoor photos which my current camera: Casio Exilim: ex-z55 couldn't do very well.
