Default Most Popular Digital Cameras of January 2009

Our first Most Popular list of 2009 rolls in with most of the same hardware that we saw on the last list of 2008, and only one entirely new camera (the Pentax K2000) edging its way onto this month's roster of most viewed products on our site. We saw some minor resorting in January, with Canon giving up two of the six spots it held last month and Panasonic gaining a little more ground.

On that note, Panasonic has continued to assert itself in our popularity rankings, taking the second spot away from Sony during 2008 for number of views in the point-and-shoot category (behind, of course, Canon), and consistently taking a couple of spots in our monthly rankings during the last year. Those who follow our lists month to month will also note that the Canon PowerShot A590 has held strong yet again this month – continuing to draw a considerable search traffic even as other newer A-series models have come and gone from our rankings.

This list of cameras shows you what visitors to DigitalCameraReview.com viewed most often over the past month. The rankings are determined by the number of times a particular product page is viewed by our users. The rankings below are for the entire month of January 2009.

I took a quick look at the quality of the pix samples of the top 5 cameras & compared them with those of the Pentax. I think the Pentax should be in the top 5

The Pentax is the only DSLR in the top ten, so it's no surprise that its sample pix are superior to the other cameras.
