Default Digital Camera News: Canvas prints from Shutterfly, Nikon D50 confirmed

    Shutterfly Now Offering Canvas Prints

You can now have your digital images printed on canvas.  Shutterfly has announced that users can now choose to have their pictures printed on hand-stretched canvases in three sizes: 16"x20", 20"x30" and 24"x36".  Prices start at $89.99.

The canvas is hand-stretched and mounted on wooden frames.  The image is printed to the edge of the canvas so that the image wraps around the frame, "giving photos a gallery finish".  The canvas is coated to prevent damage from UV light and excess moisture.

For best quality, Shutterfly recommends an image of at least 3 megapixels.

Nikon confirms Nikon D50 digital SLR

In a story at Macworld, a Nikon spokesperson has confirmed a future release of a new digital SLR from Nikon, called the D50.  Rumors have been circulating about the new model after an operating manual was posted erroneously on a couple Nikon web sites.

There are no details about specifications, but Nikon has mentioned that they are developing a line of digital SLR's to appeal to a wide range of users, from enthusiasts to professionals.

Canvas eh? That's pretty cool. Now, if I could just take pictures that were good enough to warrant such an investment. Maybe Shutterfly should offer a library of images that people could print for use as gifts or in their own homes, etc.

Don't quote me on this, but the D50 is a low cost 6 MegaPixel DSLR aimed squarely at the original Digital Revel and will be priced as such.

There also a "D70s" under the wraps as mentioned on Rob Galbraith's site.
