A nice camera for a trip..

Well hello,

I'm looking for a camera good enough for get some nice pics from my vacations, I really want to have a decent quality images (a bit more than a simple point and shot) so I'm willing to spend up to ~650 USD. My fist choice is the Fuji X20, I find it very well built, and with a couple of nice options to play with them, it could be a uprange point and shot or maybe a compact system. Anyway, I really look forward for your advice and opinions!

New Camera or current one?

Hello, first post here so I'm not sure if this is the proper location or forum but it seemed it would fit best here.

So I was elected the Historian for my High School band, and my job is to take pictures to use for a slideshow that I show at the end of the year. I currently have a Canon PowerShot A480 10 MP camera, (quite a weak and old camera) and I'm wondering if a camera like that would be suitable to what I'm trying to do. Most of the photography I do will be at football games with the only light being the stadium lights, and if it works for those shots I would hope it would work for when I need it during the day as well. I don't want to go broke buying a camera but I do have some cash to spend and would be willing to spend no more than 200. The camera I've been looking at is the PowerShot SX150 IS but I'm not as well versed in cameras as some of the people here may be.

New MILC or Point-n-Shoot?

Just got back from vacation and was utterly disappointed by the quality of night pictures (too much blur, or too much noise, no sweet spot) and the dullness of day pictures from my Fujifilm Finepix J10. So I am looking into getting a new camera. I'm deciding between an MILC or a more advanced point-n-shoot. I thought about DSLR for a bit, but their bulkiness is just not worth it. So, any recommendations for cameras, or articles that touches on this topic are welcome!

Budget

* What budget have you allocated for buying this camera? Please be as specific as possible.
$1000, new or used

Size

* What size camera are you looking for? Or does size not matter at all to you?
The smaller the better.

Features

How many megapixels will suffice for you?
10MP

* What optical zoom will you need? (None, Standard = 3x-4x, Ultrazoom = 10x-12x)
Standard will suffice, but ultrazoom is a plus.

* How important is �image quality� to you? (Rate using a scale of 1-10)

Do you care for manual exposure modes (shutter priority, aperture priority, manual)?
Not if the built-in modes will do the job.

General Usage

* What will you generally use the camera for?
Taking pictures of food, cars, and scenery (especially in low light conditions)

* Will you be making big prints of your photos or not?

Will you be shooting a lot of indoor photos or low light photos?
Yes, a lot

Will you be shooting sports and/or action photos?
Rarely

Miscellaneous

Are there particular brands you like or hate?
No Apple. Oh wait... No.

Are there particular models you already have in mind?
None so far, but I read good reviews of Sony's NEX models.

(If applicable) Do you need any of the following special features? (Wide Angle, Image Stabilization, Weatherproof, Hotshoe, Rotating LCD)
Panoramic picture is a huge plus, otherwise no.

Help please - Trying to choose between Panasonic DMC FZ200 & Sony DSC Hx200/300

I have done a fair bit of reading both here and on other review sites and still feel very conflicted about what I should get for a new camera. I guess I had hoped one would stand out but what one camera does great in one aspect it appears to lag a bit in other areas so I have to work out what areas can I accept the lag in.

This is what I am after and prepared to spend:

Good distance zoom
Good stabilisation so I don�t have to use a tripod very often
Easy to use auto options with some option to make my own choices of scene etc
Ability to capture fast moving wildlife / pets
General use around the home, family events etc.
Good EVF
Tilting or movable LCD screen for those tricky shots & self portraits
Panorama to take those awesome scenery shots
Good in low light / twilight shots
HD Video option
Sharp images with great colour
Charging of battery not in camera
It doesn't have to fit in my pocket but not over the top heavy
I am prepared to spend up to $500 AUD (which is about the same USD at the moment)
I would like Australian warranty so this may limit online purchases to those that offer that
I love bang for my buck J

I did give some long consideration to DSLR (Sony, Cannon & Nikon) but have essentially ruled them out as even though it may give me all the above I don't think in reality that I will chop & change lens and I don't want to waste my money on something I can't just pick up and go with because I get bored of the process of using it. This may be a better option down the track should my interest continue and I outgrow the P&S I get.

What I am getting closer to deciding between:

Sony DSC hx300
Panasonic DMC FZ200

Hoping this will get me to a final decision. Thank you,

Nikon D5200 Review Discussion

Introduced here in the United States at the annual Consumer Electronics Show this past January in Las Vegas, the D5200 is, logically, the follow on camera to Nikon's D5100. Combined with the introduction of the D3200 and more recently the D7100, this completes Nikon's latest modernization of their entry-level and mid-range APS-C sensor DSLR fleet. All that remains is to roll out a pro-body successor to the D300s (D400?). If there is a D400 in the works Nikon has kept it a closely guarded secret, but the D5200 is here now and offers some incremental changes over the D5100, slotting into the current Nikon DX lineup between the aforementioned entry-level D3200 and prosumer D7100.

I just bought a jvc everio ex215 camcorder.in bright sunlight I could only see my own reflection . I had no choice but to take it back. We have no camera shopswhere i live and it was purchased from an electrical chain.I have a camera shop who say they will let me see a camera working in sunlight before I buy. They only stock 3 cameras 2 of which are JVC which I am now dubious about. They also stock Sony HDRPJ200E. Can anyone help me with this choice. Other than this I have to order from internet camera unseen and untried I have had Sony in the past with good results

I'm looking to go into law enforcement and i'm hoping i can use a small DISCRETE camera to help keep track of my paper work.

I'm looking for a camera that has:

- A LONG battery life, 7+ hours AT LEAST

- Clips onto a shirt

- Expandable memory: 16gb+

- Lightweight, versatile

- Audio and Video recording, preferably 30fps, resolution doesn't matter that much

Price doesn't bother me at all.

Sony dev5 - 3d camcorder - question

Hi Guys,
I am using SONY Camcorder DV5, but there is a problem:
When I film a 3D movies by it and transfer the date to the after effect or to a 3D LG TV via the memory card or PC, I have just a 2D Movies! but when the camcorder is directly connected to the 3D TV, the result is in 3D.
Please help in this case, how can I play or edit the Movies of the camcorder in 3D?
