    Default Stylus 1010 or FE-5010

Hi, I am a bit confused between these two Olympus models:

    1) Stylus 1010 http://www.circuitcity.com/applicati...926&CatId=3624

    2) FE-5010 http://www.circuitcity.com/applicati...271&CatId=3625

Shall I go for the better optical zoom one and lose a portion of image quality, or go anyway for the 12 MP one with its 5x optical zoom which is still a good optical zoom?

    Thanks for your help.

The Stylus 1010 is an older camera but it's a better one. The only advantages the FE-5010 has are its Intelligent Auto mode (which automatically selects certain scene modes) and its smaller size. The 1010 has more optical zoom, a burst mode (for continuous shooting), a very good flash and a powerful battery. The battery on the FE-5010 is weak - you'll be lucky to get 100 pictures before you have to recharge. The 1010 will take at least 200 pictures before the battery runs down.

Thanks Andy for your helpful comment

Is it true that 1010 images are rather blurry? or it is just pertained to the camera movement while taking pictures?

    Thanks

I don't know where you heard that Stylus 1010 images were blurry. DCR's review of the 1020, practically the same camera, said of its image quality:

I found image quality to be above average during my testing, with relatively low ISO noise until you hit 800 ISO. For normal shooting out and about the 1020 produced some great images, and even at higher ISOs if the image was resized smaller it could still be salvaged.

In general, shots from the 1020 showed some heavy saturation, as well as some softness (which appeared to be more of a processing issue rather than a lens problem). All in all though, an excellent snapshot camera.
That's a very positive review of the camera's image quality.

Here are some sample photos - they don't seem blurry to me.

    Thanks Andy

I read about blurry images in these links :

Anyone have any experience with the Olympus 1010?

    & this one too:

However, I'll consider buying the 1010 Olympus camera comparable to other camera brands due to its battery capability.

    Thanks.
