Default Ricoh R8 Introduced

From here (there's a picture too):

Ricoh has developed and itroduced the new R8 compact digital camera featuring a 7.1x optical wide-angle zoom lens (28-200 mm in 35 mm focal length) and a new high-resolution 10 megapixel CCD.

The new R8 is the successor model to the Caplio R7 lunched September 14, 2007.

The R8 also offers various other enhanced capabilities for easy photography, such as a large 2.7-inch, 460,000-pixel HVGA LCD and the same 1:1 aspect square format photography function also met on Ricoh?s Caplio GX100 and GR DIGITAL II models.

The new camera will be available in March 2008 for €500.

Okidoki I hope it arrives early March, as the R7 looked very interesting but ofcourse I'd rather try the R8 if it's released in time for me.

The speculation on the net is that the sensor will be a Sony CCD, 1/2.33". Lens certainly appears to be the one from the R7.

That's as much as forum trawling has revealed at this point...

Hm. Well, as long as the mechanical noise has decreased, it should be a good upgrade I think It's my main caveat with it at the moment, without being able to hear how 'loud' the R7 is, I dare not order it.
