Default Help! I need some info on a Sony HDR-CX260V

I'm a newbie here so please bear with me. I just purchased a Sony HDR-CX260V video cam. My question is this. Unfortunately there is no active interface shoe to connect an external microphone to. There is a place on the side of the unit to plug in a cord for an external microphone, but still, there is no place to mount one. My main goal is to film hunts so am I going to be happy by purchasing a remote microphone, and second what model should I buy? I can see the advantages to using a remote mic, I just wondering if it would work well for what I'm doing. Thanks ahead of time for any feedback.

Are you sure the external microphone can be used in place of the internal mic? In most video cameras the external mic can only be used for audio dubbing after the movie is recorded. I'd carefully check the manual or contact Sony before purchasing an external mic.
