My 3yo broke our second camera in as many years so I am shopping for a new one. I do not want to spend a ton of money seeing as we seem to go through cameras quickly, however if there is something really amazing for higher than my budget I would consider it. I just want a good camera that takes nice vibrant high quality photos, and is fast enough to catch my kids before they run away or stop smiling! More details below...TIA!

    * What budget have you allocated for buying this camera? Please be as specific as possible.

    Under $200

    * What size camera are you looking for? Or does size not matter at all to you?

    Does not matter

How many megapixels will suffice for you?

    * What optical zoom will you need? (None, Standard = 3x-4x, Ultrazoom = 10x-12x)

    * How important is “image quality” to you? (Rate using a scale of 1-10)

Do you care for manual exposure modes (shutter priority, aperture priority, manual)?

Don't know how to use them!

    General Usage

    * What will you generally use the camera for?

Taking photos of my kids (they move VERY fast!)

    * Will you be making big prints of your photos or not?

    Up to 8x10

Will you be shooting a lot of indoor photos or low light photos?

Will you be shooting sports and/or action photos?

Are there particular brands you like or hate?

Have had 2 samsungs in the past, the shutter speed is a bit slow. Had a Sony years ago and loved it. I am not too picky about brand though, I just want the best camera for my price range.

Are there particular models you already have in mind?

(If applicable) Do you need any of the following special features? (Wide Angle, Image Stabilization, Weatherproof, Hotshoe, Rotating LCD)

Wide angle and image stabilization would be nice but not necessary.

Sony makes two small camera's with very good image quality that you may wish to consider. the WX 300 is very good all around and is a quick former but it probably exceeds your price range. The Wx 80 is within your price range and is also very good, but it takes longer between pictures then the WX 300. Alternatively you may wish to consider the Canon ELPH 330 or the Nikon s6500, both of which have very good image quality, are quick and are within your price range.
