Hi, I'm looking at getting an waterproof camera for taking on honeymoon where we will likely do some snorkeling (Red Sea and Mediterranean). I'm happy to spend about $300 USD to get the right camera. Please anyone who has used these in anger give me real shots from them so I can get a good idea.

I've considered a housing for one of my dSLRs but think a dedicated camera is better for simplicity and also less to break due to the small compact package.

Being able to shoot some video would also be fun.

    Thanks.

The majority of reviewers of point and shoot waterproof cameras favor the Olympus TG-2, due to its toughness and superior image quality. Its only weak point is a noisy video mode. The TG-2 is the successor to the TG-1, which most reviewers thought was the best waterproof point and shoot.
Other good ones are the Canon D20 and the Panasonic TS-5.

    Thanks for the reply!

I think that design and look of the camera is going to be a big deal more so than picture quality, as my mum only wants to take tourist photos and nothing more.
I have narrowed it down to five cameras with the prices from a waterproof camera guide site.

    Panasonic Lumix DMC-FT4 – $348
    Sony Cyber-shot DSC-TX20 $166
    Canon PowerShot D20 $268
    Olympus Tough TG-820 – $248
    Panasonic Lumix DMC-FT20 -$194

Does anyone have any experience or advice on the above cameras? Seems very cheap to me... Will be buying next week.
