I just bought a used Maxxum 5d to replace my old Dynax film camera. It did not come with a manual, but I have one on order. When I turn on the camera, the LCD screen does not come on. I can get the LCD to play back images or show any of the menu items, but it doesn't work as a viewfinder. Is there a switch which turns this feature on? If not, did I get a broken camera?

    Thanks

The function you're referring to is called live view. While most compact digital camera do this, most older SLRs like your Maxxum do not. The camera is not defective.
