    Which camera should I buy?
I am going to the mountains for the holidays. I need a new camera, the one I have is a Kodak and is not very quick. We do a lot of sports and outdoor activities so I was told Cannon is a good camera to buy I am just unsure of which one. I was thinking the Powershot SX230 HS.....I'm unsure though.

    * What budget have you allocated for buying this camera?
    $150-$300

    * What size camera are you looking for? Or does size not matter at all to you?
SOMETHING THAT IS NOT TOO BIG

How many megapixels will suffice for you?
I WAS THINKING SOMETHING LIKE 10+

    * What optical zoom will you need? (None, Standard = 3x-4x, Ultrazoom = 10x-12x)
A STANDARD ZOOM OR ULTRAZOOM WILL BE OK

    * How important is “image quality” to you? (Rate using a scale of 1-10)
    10

Do you care for manual exposure modes (shutter priority, aperture priority, manual)?
YES I DO, SHUTTER SPEED IS A PRIORITY

    * What will you generally use the camera for?
    OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES, SPORTS, PORTRAITS

    * Will you be making big prints of your photos or not?
I MORE THAN LIKELY WILL NOT BE MAKING BIG PRINTS

Will you be shooting a lot of indoor photos or low light photos?
    YES, INDOOR AND LOW LIGHT

Will you be shooting sports and/or action photos?
YES, BOTH SPORTS AND ACTION PHOTOS

Are there particular brands you like or hate?
    I LIKE CANNONS AND NIKONS

Are there particular models you already have in mind?
    THE CANNON POWERSHOT SX230 HS....?

(If applicable) Do you need any of the following special features? (Wide Angle, Image Stabilization, Weatherproof, Hotshoe, Rotating LCD)
    IMAGE STABILIZATION

    THANKS FOR YOU HELP!!!:D

The Canon SX230HS is a very fine camera. But make sure you don't expose it too much to the elements. Water, excessive cold, being dropped on a hard surface could kill it.

Have you considered a weatherproof camera?

Thank you for replying back Andy! I never really thought about buying a weatherproof camera...I know that sounds a little like nonsense seeing that we do a lot of outdoor activities, but I was never sure if the specs. for the weatherproof cameras were not as good as the regular point & shoot ones. I was mainly looking at the Cannon's and Nikons. But looking into getting one of those would be a good idea. If I were to look into getting one, which would you recommend??
