Thanks to the help of a couple people on this forum I purchased a Sony HX300 as a gift. I also purchased a 64GB Sony Class 10 card (on a cyber Monday sale).

The man at the store where I ordered my HX300 notified me that I need a special proprietary memory card called "digital speed" (I think). He said without this card then this camera won't be able to unlock all its features.
Can anyone comment about this and please offer me help. Thanks!

I assume you purchased a Sony 64gb SDXC class 10 card. This will work perfectly well with your HX300.

Refer to the Sony webpage regarding specifications for the HX300: Cyber-shot Digital Camera HX300 - DSCHX300/B Review | Sony Store U.S - Sony US

"Media Type : optional “Memory Stick Duo” (No movie recording), optional “Memory Stick PRO Duo” (Mark 2 only for movie recording), optional “Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo”, optional SD Memory Card (Class 4 or higher), optional SDHC Memory Card (Class 4 or higher), optional SDXC Memory Card (Class 4 or higher)"

Edit: Digital Speed memory cards are relatively new. They have extremely fast speeds but are also extremely expensive. Unless your camera has 30 or 40 megapixels, you shoot in RAW and have lots of extra money to spend, avoid digital speed memory cards - they're not worth it.
