    Other than the zoom, it seems that this camera is becoming ever more average. I mean it still lacks threads for attaching a filter right? The EVF & LCD resolution are still what they were years ago while other manufacturers are moving up. Potential battery life was class leading, but now is also average and provided very small benefits in bulk and weight. It's a safe choice, but I do wish Canon would give us something new to get excited about.

    I played with a SX30 in Best Buy for a few minutes.

    It seemed like a nice upgrade to my current S5. I especially liked the frame assist button that temporarily zooms out the lens to help you find your subject again.

    I agree Eugene, and I think it's safe to say we're just about at the point of diminishing returns as far as zooms go. If you can't get a clear shot in anything but bright daylight at the long end of the zoom range, then it's not worth stretching the range farther.
