Can anybody give me an idea on what lens to use for shooting indoor soccer games? I have been looking at the ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 50-200mm F2.8-3.5 SWD. I guess my questions is.. will this be a fast enough lens to get quality low light condition photo's with no flash? Currently using the 40-150mm f4.0-f5.6, ISO 1600 (noise).

    Thanks, Ron

I've read numerous very positive reviews of that lens. It's said to be excellent in all shooting situations, including at low light. It's pretty expensive though - about $1000.

I think they all get expensive when you get into the faster lenses. I was wanting to get actual input from people that have this lens, before dropping that kind of coin.

I have this lens on loan, and can confirm that it should be plenty fast for indoor soccer, depending on venue lighting and assuming you're willing to work at moderate ISOs (ISO 400). I've used it for everything from sports to theater work, and it performs admirably.
