Using easyshare there is a slide bar from low to high that says JPEG compression on transfer......

    what exactly does this mean?

If I want the picture to be how I took it from the camera what setting do I choose?

Digital cameras can compress the pictures you take to make the files smaller. Digital camera manufacturers, including Kodak, give users the option to use various levels of compression. If you want the best picture quality use the minimum amount of compression. Consult your user manual to find out which setting on the slide bar gives you the lowest level of compression.

That has nothing to do with the issue of compression.

I am talking about on the actually EASYSHARE program which transfers pics.

It gives you a compression option, does the program just reduce picture quality?

Compression will reduce picture quality. It's best to use the minimum amount you can.

In general, no. Compression is done in the camera or through a software program on the PC.
