I am looking to buy a new camcorder to backup my aging Canon HDR-SR7 camcorder. My daughter is playing basketball and I record all her games that I can get to go to. I have looked and looked for a new backup camcorder and the one I like the most, that I can afford, is the Canon HF-R42. The bad thing it is only 3.xx mp. I need to be able to shoot up to 6 hours or more HD video. The R42 has that capability with the in-built memory and the additional slot for up to 64gb SD card. Most good ones only have the internal memory. I saw a Canon Pro but I do not have $1,200 - $1,300.00 lying around to get it.

    Thanks for any suggestions.

What about the Sony HDR-PJ380, which has 8.9 mp, 30x optical zoom, memory card slot and a built-in projector for about the same price as the Canon HF-R42?

I had not heard of or seen this one. I have had many Sony cameras in the past and they were all great but I will definitely check this one out. Thank you for the heads up. It is appreciated.
