Manfrotto is an excellent brand, it's up there with Slik if you ask me. I have one Manfrontoo and one Slik and both are excellent, the build-quality is outstanding to say the least.

Manfrotto is the parent company that manufactures both Bogen and Gitzo, among others. The 190D is equivalent to the Bogen 3001, I believe, which is more than adequate for most digital cameras. If you are planning on placing a digital SLR with longer lenses on it, you may want to step up to a 3021.

    How portable are these tripods?
I would like to get something small enough to be able to take on regular plane trips with me, is this possible?
