Nikon Rumors reports Nikon's next product announcement will come February 7 and include the D800 DSLR along with Coolpix models. The D800 is popularly expected to be the follow-on model to the D700, but rumors have it packing 36MP onto its full-frame sensor, which takes it well beyond the 24MP of the current generation D3X. The next Nikon product announcement will be on February 7th, 2012 | Nikon Rumors Update, January 26: Nikon Rumors is saying now that Coolpix models will be announced February 2, with the D800 on February 7 - and also that 36MP resolution has been confirmed for the D800. Nikon D800 on February 7th, Coolpix cameras on February 2nd | Nikon Rumors Rumors are beginning to circulate that the D400 may be announced in March. If I got my way it would be an improved D7000 sensor with EXPEED 3 technology, the improved D4 AF system (the D300S and D3S have the same system currently), an 8fps base shooting rate thanks to licensing Sony's translucent mirror technology with 10 fps available with the optional battery pack. It will certainly have full 1080HD video for those who care about movies. Nikon has recently listed the D300S and D700 as "discontinued" on their Japan website.......... UPDATE, FEBRUARY 6: Hong Kong press conference portion of Nikon's February 7 announcement is scheduled for 11 AM in Hong Kong - which is 7PM tonight here on the west coast. We should know a lot more about the D800 then - rumors have it being offered in two versions, with and without an anti-aliasing filter.
