    Hello,

I just got a new Nikon D3100 DSLR.

I'd like to know, what are the best settings to use? And what should I know about the camera?

    Thanks

    Congratulations. It's an excellent DSLR.

I suggest you stay with Auto for most shooting and gradually try out the other modes and options. The D3100 has an excellent built-in help system that should be very useful. Also, read the user manual.

I bought an D3100 yesterday myself and it`s a fantastic camera , also you can get a £40 rebate from Nikon UK at the moment, not certain about the US though.

Thinking about getting this camera. The more I read about it, the more I'm beginning to like it. Jim Keenan thank you for sharing your experience. Crazysah and Tinderbox (UK) hope to hear (and see some photos maybe :) ) some more feelings about this device from both of yous. Crazysah is this your first such camera (DSLR). How is the transition.
