Hi I just bought a new X-E1 and quite new to photograpy so I'm just learning the camera/settings. Just wondering should a picture at ISO 4000 have this sort of noise/blue spots? Images: http://imageshack.us/a/img191/131/6k24.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img703/7914/792z.jpg Is it because not enough ligt, the ISO too high or a other setting set wrongly? Thanks,
The blueness in the image looks very odd. Usually when an image has an inappropriate sheen (blue, yellow, brown) the problem relates to the white balance setting. In your case I see by the image's EXIF data that white balance was set to auto. Have any of your other pictures displayed that blue sheen? If so you might have a problem with your camera's auto white balance.
Yes a few that have very low light and appears in mostly the dark areas of the picture. Still a lot to learn so I will a look at white balance settings and how to set them properly. Here is two other photos I took. It is very dark out tonight and I haven't got a tripod. Just pictures I made experimenting with settings: http://imageshack.us/a/img59/2945/z9zs.jpg http://img541.imageshack.us/img541/1491/xoji.jpg (2.3)
Your pictures were taken with an ISO of 6400. With such a high ISO you're bound to get some digital noise and/or smearing. To be able to use a lower ISO you'll need to shoot at a slower shutter speed. Your XE-1 has a minimum shutter speed of 30 seconds. If your camera is mounted on a tripod you'll be able to take a good looking low light picture with a lower ISO - maybe 3200 or 1600 - if you reduce the shutter speed to 10, 20 or 30 seconds. Try it out and see what combination of ISO and shutter speed works best.
