I just purchased a Panasonic Lumix LX7 which overall I'm happy with with but have one problem. At the most open f stop (f1.4) the camera will only allow me to use a maximum shutter speed of 1/2000. I can get the camera to go to 1/4000 at slower f stops with faster iso settings so it is capable but won't do it at the f1.4 setting. I'm wanting to take photos at 1/4000 - f1.4 to get max depth of field effect.
I've tried lots of different manual settings etc but just don't seem to be able to set it.

    Regards

    James

My Panasonic FZ28 also limits the shutter speed at wide aperture. When the aperture is wider it takes more time for the shutter to close.

Thanks Andy I didn't realise that, I wish they specified that in the specs of the camera though, all it stated was max shutter speed 1/4000 but that should be qualified with '@ f4 and above' etc.
I just assumed it could do that at all aperatures but hey now I know :)

I was hoping to find a compact that could produce similar results to my Canon 1000D with 50mm f1.8 lens that does a nice soft depth of field.
